God is doing a New Thing!

Right now in our Committed Couples class in Sunday School we are studying the book, "The DNA of Relationships." We just started this in January and have only had 3 weeks, but I am already learning so much. Most of us develop a way of relating to others, and to reacting to them that can actually turn out to be destructive. We all have "buttons" that when pushed, cause us to react in a certain way. (Usually negative.) BUT I am learning that NO ONE but NO ONE can "make" us upset, unhappy, happy, etc. It is a choice we make. I am learning that I can decide not to react negatively if my buttons are pushed, and why I feel upset when they are pushed. We are only scratching the surface so far but I am so excited because God is doing a new thing and I want to be where God is at work. I want God to work in me to change me into the person He wants me to be. I want to lean on God for everything, to allow God to meet all my needs, to be whole and able to pour out into others to minister to them as well. God is doing a new thing, and I for one want to jump on board! Won't you jump with me?

Time

How you spend your time matters.

This weekend we had the best time going to see Mickey Rooney and just being together, alone, as a couple. As a family we spent time together on Sunday just enjoying one another. I am tired today from lack of sleep, yet I feel great from being "refueled" from this fun weekend. I feel like Darin and I are on a second honeymoon or something, because how we are choosing to spend our time together really is transforming our relationship. Life happens as we all well know, and sometimes our schedules get so busy we feel we don't even know our own names. When you notice this happening, it is time to step back and re-evaluate how you are spending your time. What return are you getting for your investment? Make sure everything in your life is in balance. We should put God first, our husband (or wife) and children second, then the rest of the things in our lives third. We are only on this earth for a short while and how we spend our time really does matter. How will you spend yours?
