This Day in History

The Boy Scouts of America Is Founded (1910)

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), founded in 1910, is the largest youth organization in the US. BSA members are taught outdoorsmanship through participation in camping, aquatic, and hiking activities. These programs are designed to build character, promote fitness, and encourage leadership. Scouts advance in rank by overcoming a series of obstacles and receive recognition for their accomplishments in the form of merit badges and awards. How many of the 12 men to walk on the moon were Scouts?

God is doing a New Thing!

Right now in our Committed Couples class in Sunday School we are studying the book, "The DNA of Relationships." We just started this in January and have only had 3 weeks, but I am already learning so much. Most of us develop a way of relating to others, and to reacting to them that can actually turn out to be destructive. We all have "buttons" that when pushed, cause us to react in a certain way. (Usually negative.) BUT I am learning that NO ONE but NO ONE can "make" us upset, unhappy, happy, etc. It is a choice we make. I am learning that I can decide not to react negatively if my buttons are pushed, and why I feel upset when they are pushed. We are only scratching the surface so far but I am so excited because God is doing a new thing and I want to be where God is at work. I want God to work in me to change me into the person He wants me to be. I want to lean on God for everything, to allow God to meet all my needs, to be whole and able to pour out into others to minister to them as well. God is doing a new thing, and I for one want to jump on board! Won't you jump with me?

Freedom

Today is Super Tuesday and I was excited to exercise my right to vote today. We have such a special privilege, to have the freedom to express our opinions, and even have a part in picking who governs over us. How many people can say that? We Americans can tend to take our freedoms for granted, and as Christians we can also take our freedoms in Christ for granted. Both were bought for us for a precious price. For America many men died to bring us freedom, for Christians Christ gave His precious life so that we could be free. We are rich beyond measure!

Don't forget to vote, the future of our country is at stake!
