Christmas Quotes

"It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you...yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand." ~Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree." ~Roy L. Smith

"
I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys." ~Charles Dickens

"
There has been only one Christmas - the rest are anniversaries." ~W.J. Cameron

"
Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time." ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

"May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!" ~Author Unknown

"I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year." ~Charles Dickens

"Instead of being a time of unusual behavior, Christmas is perhaps the only time in the year when people can obey their natural impulses and express their true sentiments without feeling self-conscious and, perhaps, foolish. Christmas, in short, is about the only chance a man has to be himself." ~Francis C. Farley

"It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air." ~W.T. Ellis

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love! ~Hamilton Wright Mabie

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." ~Author unknown, attributed to a 7-year-old named Bobby

"Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself..."
~Norman Wesley Brooks, "Let Every Day Be Christmas," 1976

What are you worth?

"Don't grieve God. Don't break His heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don't take such a gift for granted. Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you."
~Ephesians 4:30-32, The Message

I was reading my devotional today and this scripture started it out. It was all about forgiveness, and what can happen if we choose not to forgive. Yesterday's sermon was along the same lines so I know that God was trying to get my attention. You see, for many months now, I have been trying to work through a difficult situation with someone that, (at least from MY perspective) has been unwilling to cooperate. I have always known that healing comes from the Lord, and that I need to choose to forgive people whether or not they ask for forgiveness. BUT I found myself trying to convince this person to talk through the issues with me to help us both understand one another to no avail. I allowed this "brick wall" of sorts to stand in the way of my receiving healing from the Lord on the issues associated with this difficult situation. But God has made that plain to me now, so I have decided to forgive and move on, allowing God to work healing into my life. I hope you can learn from my mistakes and look only to God for your significance. God's approval is the only One you need. Man's approval is nice, but our very worth is found in God alone. And the quicker we can forgive others, the quicker God can work in and through us.
